Medical Officer
Hospice South Canterbury
Position status: Permanent, Part-time
Hours of work: 0.4-0.5 FTE (Negotiable)
Interest is invited for this position which becomes vacant in February, 2026.
Purpose of position:
To provide excellent palliative care to the inpatients of Hospice South Canterbury in Timaru.
To provide clinical support to the Hospice South Canterbury clinical team including training and oversight where needed.
To provide active, medical input to Hospice South Canterbury’s clinically excellent care as part of an interdisciplinary team, in line with its holistic ethos and in accordance with the NZ Palliative Care Standards.
To provide medical support and training to staff, patients, whānau and external partners as required in line with the values of Hospice South Canterbury.
Would suit:
General practitioner, registrar or nurse practitioner with experience in palliative medicine.
