Syringe Driver competency programme

Endorsed by Hospice NZ. These competencies are designed to assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses to update their knowledge, skills and competencies annually in the use of the Niki T34 syringe driver for symptom control in palliative care.

ALTERNATIVELY  you can complete the Syringe Driver Competency programme ONLINE. 

This online course is based on the Hospice New Zealand Syringe Driver Competency Programme. You will learn about the use of a syringe driver, caring for a person with a syringe driver and information about medications and drug calculations.

Completion of the Syringe Driver Competency Programme includes:

  1. Completion of the online course modules
  2. Completion of the following online assessments
    • Syringe Driver theory (requires 80% correct to pass)
    • Medication calculation test (requires 100% correct to pass)

Followed by:

  1. Attendance at a practical competency workshop (1 hour) within 3 months of completing the above requirements. Book into workshops at Hospice South Canterbury as above.
